Having worked as a board-certified dermatologist for ten years, I meet a wide variety of people in the clinic. And their behavior is often similar: "Ultherapy PRIME® is trending, so I should get it too," or "My friend says Thermage® FLX is good, so I'll get it."
For a Smaller, More Elegant, Glowing Face
Heal House explains why you should first understand your face shape type rather than following trendy procedures. We have organized the criteria for a small, elegant, and Glowing Face, where treatments are designed in an order that compensates for weaknesses and highlights strengths according to facial shape characteristics.
This may seem like a common approach and not problematic, but from my perspective as a dermatologist, it is not convincing. Before any procedure, the first thing to do is to identify your face shape type. Then, based on the characteristics of each type, the procedure should be designed to compensate for weaknesses and highlight strengths. However, this step is often omitted. The reason why you can easily find cases of failed procedures—rather than effective results—even on social media, is precisely because this step was skipped.
There are many reasons why understanding your face shape is important, but to summarize in one sentence: it is the first step to avoiding artificial and uniform procedures, preserving your natural individuality, and discovering the beauty hidden within.
So what form should the beauty we seek take? Over 10 years, while meeting more than 1,000 people face to face, we were able to identify common needs. A slender face, a face with pretty lines, and good skin were the ideals many people wanted. Furthermore, when we compared before-and-after photos of all treated cases and analyzed the cases with high satisfaction one by one, patterns began to emerge. Ultimately, what people wanted was a 'small,' 'elegant,' and 'glowing' face. Heal House's philosophy and core treatments are thus condensed into three categories: 'Creating a Small Face,' 'Creating an Elegant Face,' and 'Creating a Glowing Face.'
Asian faces have relatively wide spaces, so facial features can easily become less prominent. Therefore, creating a small face can bring about a decisive change comparable to eye or nose surgery. Did you know that the shape and even the size of your face can change depending on the movement of your facial muscles? Creating a small face is a process of understanding the condition and movement of the muscles and appropriately correcting them through simple injections to sculpt the face to be smaller and more attractive.
Furthermore, when the curve from the forehead to the temples, cheekbones, cheeks, and jaw flows without interruption, an elegant face is completed. As we age, certain areas of the face commonly lose volume: the temples, under-eye area, nasolabial folds, and lateral cheeks. When these areas lose volume, the facial contour becomes uneven and bumpy. This makes you look older and, unfortunately, gives a less gentle impression. An elegant face is a procedure that naturally fills these areas, allowing your natural facial lines to be revived.
No matter how beautiful the contour is, if the skin is dull, it leaves something to be desired. Radiance is not something applied on top of the skin; it emanates from within when the skin itself becomes healthy. A small and elegant face is ultimately completed only when it becomes radiant skin.
Based on this philosophy, which I have pondered and researched over many years, I thought a very simple thought: then I should just create that for them. As a result, patient satisfaction with procedures increased further. I believe this is because I approached it with the mindset that these needs people have are ultimately the ideal I myself earnestly desire.
In fact, I myself have a desire for this small, elegant, and Glowing Face. I was born with a rectangular face shape, so I was teased a lot by friends since childhood. I was very stressed, but I thought there was no way to fix it. I couldn't even think about cutting bone, and I didn't really want to go that far. However, after becoming a dermatologist, I realized that even without surgery, you can gradually become prettier through procedures, and there are plenty of ways to make the face look a little less long. I often hear that my facial lines have softened compared to three years ago. This was the result of getting only the necessary procedures in the necessary areas. In a way, I could say I am a living witness to this approach.
Everyone has beauty. We all have our own charm. Even if you don't feel it yourself, it definitely exists. And finding this hidden beauty and charm is exactly my job. By using my own standards and guidelines to highlight each person's beauty. The results can be markedly different with just a slight touch depending on the face shape, and the journey toward a small, elegant, and Glowing Face—though it sounds cliché—will not stop today either.
