A collaborative study on the current status of vitiligo published in a world-class journal An opportunity to broaden global interest in and understanding of vitiligo
We share meaningful news from Dr. Jung Min Bae, who has been steadily researching to better understand vitiligo and create a proper treatment environment. A vitiligo study in which Dr. Bae participated as a co-investigator has been published in Lancet Public Health, a journal in the field of international public health.
This study is an international collaborative project conducted by the research team of Professor Khaled Ezzedine in Paris, France, along with Professors Solam Lee and Hyunjeong Ju, and Dr. Jung Min Bae. By analyzing vast global data, it systematically examined the scale of the population experiencing vitiligo and differences by region and age.
The study results showed that approximately 28.5 million people worldwide experience vitiligo. This confirms through objective data that vitiligo is not a rare condition affecting only a few people, but a skin disease that requires more global attention and research.
The reason our dermatologists continue to conduct research is not simply to publish results. It is a meaningful process of turning clinical experience into objective evidence, sharing it with other dermatologists, and helping vitiligo treatment move in a better direction.
We will continue to share the experience gained through ongoing research and international academic exchanges, and steadily strive to help vitiligo treatment move in a better direction.
