I tend to read the atmosphere and adapt well. I blend in easily anywhere, listen well, and harmonize. But over more than 10 years of seeing patients, there was always something that bothered me. There were moments when, even though I knew there were better treatments, the hospital structure prevented me from fully resolving the patient's concerns.
Steady and Determined, Continuing to Explore New Approaches — Park Saemi, Board-Certified Dermatologist
An interview with Park Saemi, a board-certified dermatologist who has joined Heal House. It covers the limitations of clinical structures she has felt over more than 10 years of seeing patients, the process of deciding to join because the treatments she considered necessary were already established as programs, and her future direction in practice.
At Heal House, not only the things I wanted to try but also what I thought was necessary were already established as treatment programs. I joined here with the conviction that it is a place where I can freely make new attempts.
I am sociable, so I tend to blend in well anywhere, and here too, I want to harmonize with both the staff and patients, just as I am.
The more I experience, the more curious I become.
Introducing myself feels like the hardest thing in the world, but since I've newly joined this place, I think I should at least say hello, so I'm writing this with courage. Nice to meet you. I'm Park Saemi, a dermatologist at Heal House Gangnam Branch.
I completed my board certification in dermatology at the Catholic University of Korea and have been seeing patients for over 10 years, working at various hospitals of different sizes. Melasma, rosacea, lifting, and anti-aging procedures come in many types, but I have not focused on just one area; I have covered the broad spectrum of dermatology. There were too many things I was curious about to limit myself to just one.
Flexibly according to the situation, yet still being myself
Actually, I am the type who adapts well to given situations. I am comfortable going with the flow and do not try to stand out. I tend to blend in quickly wherever I go. I listen first, adjust to the other person, and move by reading the atmosphere. Once a decision is made, I act without complaint and just do what needs to be done. It is a bit embarrassing to say this myself, but thankfully, people around me describe me as calm yet bold, blending in yet not wavering.
My practice is the same. When I meet patients who come with skin concerns at other Gangnam dermatology clinics, I first identify what the patient wants and what they are most concerned about, and address that first. I learned this after a few trials and errors. Recommending something else first to someone who has already made up their mind tends to backfire. So now, I first perform the procedure they want, and when they are satisfied, I then recommend what I think is necessary. Interestingly, that order works. Once their needs are met and they feel satisfied, they are much more receptive to my recommendations. It may sound grandiose to call it a philosophy, but identifying the patient's needs first and offering the most suitable option accordingly—that is my approach to practice.
Outside of practice, my approach is similar. I tend to relieve stress as it comes so that it does not affect my work. I often go for drives, and while I listen to all genres of music, I especially like rock bands and do not find myself seeking out hip-hop much. Among bands, I like Nell the most.
With my sociable personality, I hope to get along well with both the staff and patients here, just as I have elsewhere. And at Heal House Gangnam Branch, I want to become a doctor who can provide better answers to patients by addressing their questions one by one.
Q. What skin concerns does Dr. Park Saemi treat? A. I cover the overall field of dermatology, including melasma treatment, rosacea, lifting, and anti-aging procedures, and I consider synergy through combination protocols more important than single procedures.
Q. How does the consultation with Director Park Saemi at Heal House Gangnam Branch proceed? A. We first address what the patient wants most, then suggest additional treatments as needed. The entire procedure is managed under a single protocol from start to finish.

Reasons for choosing Heal House
For me, I thought of Heal House as a place where I could freely explore this curiosity. Seeing Professor Jung Min Bae, who never stops trying new things, and Director Hanmi Jung, who has walked her own path steadily without wavering, I was convinced that they would be reliable mentors and good colleagues to share concerns with. I felt that things I might have lightly let pass on my own could be solved together here.
Moments when I wanted to do more but could not
In any hospital, when working as a paid doctor, the consultations tend to operate within a certain framework. This is because of the need for consistency—patients should receive similar treatments regardless of which doctor they see within the same hospital. From the patient's perspective, this has the advantage of consistent care, but within that framework, even if you want to suggest a more effective combination, it is difficult to fully realize it.
For example, for a patient who came for melasma treatment, even though I knew that combining vascular laser or RF Lifting would be much more effective, it was not easy to recommend it separately in the consultation room. Every doctor knows that for any concern—pigmentation, pores, scars, anti-aging—combination therapy is more effective than single treatments, but as you add one recommendation after another, there comes a moment when it feels more like persuasion than a natural suggestion.
However, here, treatments with proven efficacy are designed as a single protocol from the start, including intervals and cycles. The structure is such that when a patient shares their concerns, the appropriate combination therapy follows naturally, without the need for additional persuasion, allowing us to start with an optimal combination from the beginning. There are many aspects of the synergy of combination therapy that I have yet to fully experience, so I am even more looking forward to my experience here.
