If REJURAN® Didn’t Work for You, Re2O® May Be the Answer

by Heal House

If you have received REJURAN® but did not notice any change, Heal House explains why Re2O® could be an alternative. We compared the difference between REJURAN®, which uses PN to promote regeneration and barrier repair, and Re2O®, which uses hADM-based ECM components to address the skin's foundation.

Doctor, I received REJURAN®, but honestly, I can't really tell if it worked.

I got it because I heard it was good, but I feel like my skin hasn't changed much.

Is it that Skin Booster just doesn't suit me?

[Here is my answer]

Just because you didn't feel the effect of REJURAN® doesn't mean that Skin Booster itself doesn't suit you. However, the regeneration signal that REJURAN® provides and the direction of change your skin needed may have been different.

REJURAN® is a Skin Booster that uses PN to promote skin regeneration and barrier repair. In contrast, Re2O® takes an approach of replenishing the skin's foundation itself through hADM-based ECM components. Simply put, if REJURAN® is a treatment that delivers a "regeneration signal," Re2O® is closer to a treatment that supplies "skin-building components."

Therefore, for some of those who felt that REJURAN® had no effect, Re2O® (Lituo), which supplies complex nutrition directly to cells, could be an alternative.

Hello. I am Jeong Han-mi, board-certified dermatologist and lead physician of Heal House Gangnam Branch.

During Skin Booster consultations, we often hear comments like these.

"I got REJURAN®, but I can't really tell." "It was just painful and the effect was minimal." "Then is my skin not suited for REJURAN®?"

Because REJURAN® is such a well-known treatment, expectations are high, and if satisfaction is low, disappointment can be significant. However, in such cases, the important thing is not to ask "Is REJURAN® an ineffective treatment?" but first to see "Was my skin in a condition where REJURAN® would work well?"

Today, we will explain why some people who did not feel the effect of REJURAN® have that experience, and why Re2O® may be worth considering in such cases.

Skin that responds well to REJURAN® vs. skin that does not respond well

The biggest reason REJURAN® may feel ineffective is when the change your skin needs differs from the direction of REJURAN®'s action.

The key ingredient in REJURAN® is PN, or polynucleotide. It is commonly known as a regenerative ingredient derived from salmon DNA. However, REJURAN® is less of a treatment that directly fills something into the skin and more of a treatment that gives a signal for the skin to recover and regenerate on its own.

Skin that responds well

① Those with weakened skin barriers, ② those with thin and sensitive skin, or ③ those who recover slowly after irritation often respond well.

Skin that does not respond well

① If the skin barrier is already healthy, REJURAN® may not work well. Because there is not much damage to regenerate, it is difficult to feel a dramatic change. Therefore, people whose skin condition is not significantly poor often wonder, "Did it improve?"

② The expected change differs from what REJURAN® does. If your concern was to fill the foundation that supports firmness and elasticity within the skin, then Re2O® (Re2O), which directly supplies ECM, may work better than REJURAN®, which provides a regeneration signal. Conversely, if your concern was the surface texture itself, such as pores or skin texture, or if you wanted an immediate, noticeable feeling of elasticity, a different approach may be needed, and the expected change may feel different from the actual change.

③ This also applies when the skin's response to the PN ingredient is weak. No matter how good an ingredient is, not all skin reacts in the same way. The perceived effect can vary depending on the individual's skin environment, recovery ability, and number of treatment sessions.

[Consultation Summary] If you received REJURAN® and felt no effect, it does not mean the treatment failed. It may be that your skin did not need REJURAN®, or the direction of the expected change was different. Therefore, when choosing the next treatment, it is important to look for "a treatment with a different approach" rather than "a stronger treatment."

Skin that responds well to Re2O® vs. skin that does not respond well

Re2O® is a treatment that starts from a different point than REJURAN®. Rather than inducing regeneration by giving a signal, it is closer to directly filling the skin's building components to replenish its foundation.

The core of Re2O® is ECM (extracellular matrix) obtained from hADM (human-derived allogenic dermis). It is what remains after removing only the cellular components that cause immune rejection from actual human skin, and it contains skin-building components such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin in a matrix form. Its characteristic is that it is biocompatible because its structure is similar to our body's skin.

Skin that responds well

Because it is an approach that directly supplies the materials to skin whose foundation needs to be filled, it can be considered for ① those who experienced only a weak change from REJURAN®'s regeneration signal alone, ② those who feel their skin's foundation itself is thin and depleted due to aging or accumulated damage, and ③ those who want to refill the structure that supports texture and elasticity.

Skin that does not respond well

Conversely, ① it may not be suitable for those who want quick changes such as immediate volume or lifting. This is because Re2O® also requires time for collagen to settle, so the effect appears gradually. Additionally, ② if the goal is to improve skin texture and glow, and the skin's basic regenerative ability is sufficient, REJURAN®, which induces regeneration, may work better than replenishing the foundation.

[Consultation Summary] This does not mean that Re2O® is unconditionally a better procedure than REJURAN®. We often receive requests saying, "REJURAN® didn't work for me, so please switch me to Re2O® unconditionally." However, before that, we need to first consider whether the number of treatment sessions was insufficient or whether the type of change you expected was different from the start. The key is not to find a "stronger procedure" but to find the "direction that suits your skin."

REJURAN® vs Re2O® Summary

■ REJURAN® Key ingredient → PN (polynucleotide, derived from salmon) Mechanism of action → Stimulates fibroblasts to induce the skin to regenerate on its own

Strengths → Improves skin texture, fine lines, internal dryness, and glow Suited for → Those with weak or sensitive skin barriers, and

when the goal is to improve texture and elasticity while basic regenerative capacity is maintained Less suited for → When the skin is already healthy with little damage to regenerate, or when immediate, structural changes are desired

■ Re2O® Key ingredient → hADM (human-derived acellular dermal matrix ECM) Mechanism of action → Directly supplies ECM components such as collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin Strengths → Replenishes structural components for skin that lacks a foundation Suited for → Those who felt REJURAN® was unsatisfactory, or when the skin's foundation has weakened due to aging or damage Less suited for → When immediate volume or lifting is desired, or when regenerative capacity is sufficient and only texture improvement is needed

[Consultation Summary] In a nutshell: REJURAN® induces, Re2O® supplies. They are not competitors but tools used for different situations. The key is to determine whether your skin currently needs a signal or materials.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. If REJURAN® has no effect, is it a failed procedure? It is not a failure. It is highly likely that your skin condition did not require REJURAN®, or that the direction of change you expected was different from REJURAN®'s role. If the degree of change was small due to little damage, it may actually be a sign that your skin is stable.

Q. Who is REJURAN® suited for? It tends to work well for those with a weak skin barrier, thin and sensitive skin, or slow recovery after irritation. Since REJURAN® works by giving signals for the skin to regenerate on its own, the effect is more pronounced when basic regenerative capacity is present.

Q. What is the difference between REJURAN® and Re2O®? REJURAN® uses salmon-derived PN to "induce" skin regeneration, while Re2O® uses hADM-based ECM to "directly supply" skin components. You can think of it as the difference between a procedure that gives signals and one that fills in materials.

Q. If REJURAN® had no effect, should I unconditionally switch to Re2O®? Not necessarily. The number of treatment sessions may have been insufficient, or the type of change you expected may have been different from the start, so the cause should be identified first. The key is not to find a "stronger procedure" but to find the "direction that suits your skin."

Q. Who is Re2O® suited for? It can be considered for those who experienced little change with REJURAN®'s regenerative signals alone, or those who feel their skin's foundation is thin and depleted due to aging or damage. This is because it takes an approach of filling the structure that forms the basis of texture and elasticity.

Q. Does Re2O® have immediate effects? It is not an immediate procedure. Re2O® also requires time for collagen to settle, so the effects appear gradually. Therefore, it may not be suitable for those seeking quick volume or lifting.
