Wrinkles & Contour The L

What is The L procedure?

The L is a simple injection procedure that reduces the volume of the facial contour to create a slimmer appearance, and is used on areas with fullness such as the jawline, lower face, and temples. Clinical studies have reported a reduction in facial area of about 4.7% and in left-right width of about 4.3%, and changes usually begin to appear 1–2 weeks after the procedure, becoming most noticeable around 3 months.

What effects does The L have?

It is a procedure that creates a small, slim face through a simple injection, not surgery. It does not simply reduce the size of the face but restores the balance of the facial contour to naturally create a slimmer impression. It is particularly effective for a square-jawed appearance due to a developed lower face, a wide-looking face due to broad temples, and for refining unnecessary volume along the edges of the face.

Clinical results have demonstrated a reduction in facial area of about 4.7% and in left-right width of about 4.3%.

How is The L different from regular contouring injections or masseter Botox?

Generally, 'contour injection' is not a specific product name but a term for procedures that reduce facial fat using arbitrarily combined drugs, which may sometimes include steroid components.

The L uses a proprietary liquid composition (Patent No. 10-2973299) that combines ingredients excellent for improving facial contour in an optimal ratio, and does not contain steroids.

Also, the approach is different. While square-jaw botulinum toxin type A or general contour injections focus on 'simple reduction' by injecting a uniform drug into a specific area, The L is a whole-balance procedure in which a dermatologist reads the flow of the entire face—jaw, temples, hairline, etc.—and precisely designs the amount to reduce in each area. It also contains a pain-relieving component, making the procedure much less painful.

Which areas is The L typically used for?

It is used on areas with fullness such as the jawline, a wide lower face (square jaw), a wide-looking temple line, the hairline edge, and generally on areas where the outer margin of the face is broad, making the contour look blunt or unbalanced.

However, because muscle size, fat layer thickness, skin elasticity, and connections with surrounding structures vary from person to person and from area to area, the same dose is not used everywhere. In particular, areas like the side cheek where fat is thin and prone to hollowing require careful judgment; over-treating such areas can actually create a hollow or sagging appearance.

Therefore, it is safer to decide which areas to treat and how much after directly assessing the face shape and fat distribution.

Also, for those whose fundamental issue is a large bone structure or sagging/hollow skin, the effect may be limited, and other procedures such as lifting, dermal filler to add volume, or Sculptra may be needed.

Are the results of The L semi-permanent?

Changes usually begin to appear 1–2 weeks after the procedure, with the contour gradually becoming refined, and the most noticeable effect can be seen around 3 months. The effect is not permanent; the volume of muscles and soft tissues can change again over time due to chewing habits or aging. Therefore, periodic maintenance is needed.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

The L is usually performed over multiple sessions. Rather than trying to achieve a dramatic change in a single session, dividing the treatment into sessions to gradually refine the line is safer and yields better results.

Starting 1–2 weeks after the procedure, the line is gradually refined, and around the 3-month mark, the unnecessary fullness of the face is trimmed, allowing you to see the most noticeable and satisfying results.

However, depending on facial muscle usage habits (such as enjoying tough foods or clenching teeth), aging, and weight changes, the volume of soft tissues and muscle mass can naturally increase again over time.

Therefore, if you wish to maintain the slim impression and optimal face shape achieved with The L over the long term, we recommend consulting with a specialist and continuing regular maintenance at a pace suited to your face's rate of change. Although it varies depending on individual muscle development and fat volume, typically the initial phase focuses on firmly establishing the shape, and then the interval between sessions is adjusted for maintenance.
