Nasolabial folds do not arise from a single cause. Therefore, rather than asking "which treatment is good," it is more appropriate to first determine "why my nasolabial folds formed."
They can be broadly divided into three categories. First, the fat and bone beneath the cheek area atrophy, causing the upper part to sink and making the fold line relatively more prominent. Second, repeated facial expressions and aging thin the dermis itself at the crease line, etching a groove. Third, the midface tissue, that is, the flesh above the nasolabial fold, sags downward, deepening the crease line.
| Main cause | Visible characteristics | Direction primarily considered |
|---|---|---|
| Volume loss | Upper cheek area appears sunken and shadowed | Volume-type treatments such as hyaluronic acid dermal filler and Sculptra |
| Dermal groove wrinkles | The line remains even when not smiling | Dermal regeneration type such as JUVGEN |
| Tissue sagging | The line deepens as tissue sags downward | Thread Lifting and HIFU Lifting type |
Most individuals have a combination of these three factors, so it is difficult to conclude with a single treatment. Since the order and combination vary depending on which element is more dominant, and results also vary individually, we recommend establishing a plan after a direct evaluation of your condition.
