Sculptra injects PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) into the deep dermis, stimulating fibroblasts to produce your own collagen. Unlike dermal fillers that fill immediately, collagen forms over several months, gradually improving volume and skin elasticity. Because it is based on your own collagen, the results look more natural and last relatively longer. To achieve sufficient effect, repeated sessions at the recommended intervals are necessary.
The most common reactions after Sculptra treatment are mild bruising and swelling at the injection sites, which usually improve within 3 to 7 days. Recovery time may vary by individual.
