Skin Booster JUVELOOK REJURAN®

How Many Collagen Booster Sessions Do I Need?

A collagen booster typically involves an initial course of about 3 sessions at 4-week intervals, followed by maintenance treatments every 6 months to 1 year to sustain the results.

How Many Sessions Are Typically Recommended, and at What Intervals?

Generally, an initial intensive course of about 3 sessions at 2- to 4-week intervals is the standard protocol. This is because a collagen booster does not create volume through the injected substance itself; instead, it stimulates fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen on their own. Time is needed for newly synthesized collagen to settle, and repeating the process several times makes the improvement more noticeable.

However, the interval and number of sessions vary depending on the product ingredients, skin thickness, degree of aging, and the desired level of improvement. For example, Sculptra, which contains PLLA, is often administered at intervals of 4 weeks or more, with the number of sessions determined by the volume needed. REJURAN®, which contains PN (polynucleotide), is often based on 3 sessions at 1-month intervals. It is safer to determine the exact number of sessions after assessing your skin condition.

Is a Single Session Effective?

Depending on the collagen booster, you may notice changes such as improved hydration or fine texture after just one session. However, the collagen regeneration effect may not be significant. The feeling of moisture immediately after the procedure is largely due to the injected substance and a temporary skin reaction, and much of it subsides over time.

The fundamental improvement in skin elasticity and texture, which is the primary goal of a collagen booster, occurs only after collagen is cumulatively synthesized. Therefore, trying one session and then completing the planned number of sessions at the recommended intervals is often more cost-effective. After the first session, you can adjust the intervals for the remaining sessions based on your response.

How Often Should I Get Maintenance Treatments?

After completing the initial intensive course, maintenance treatments are generally recommended at intervals of approximately 3 to 12 months, depending on the product. Newly formed collagen gradually decreases due to natural aging, so periodic maintenance treatments help sustain the regenerative stimulus.

Typically, REJURAN® is maintained every 3 to 6 months, while longer-lasting products like Sculptra may be reinforced after 1 to 2 years. The maintenance interval varies greatly from person to person depending on the rate of skin changes, so it is advisable to have your skin condition checked regularly and adjust accordingly.

Do Different Products Have Different Recommended Numbers of Sessions?

Yes, because the ingredients and mechanisms of action differ, the recommended number of sessions and intervals vary by product. The table below summarizes the generally known levels, but the actual plan may vary depending on your skin condition.

ProductMain IngredientInitial Recommended Sessions (General)Treatment Interval (General)
REJURAN®PN (Polynucleotide)3 sessions4 weeks
JUVELOOKPDLLA+HA3 sessions4 weeks
SculptraPLLA2 to 3 sessions4 weeks or more
Re2O®hADM (Human-Derived Collagen, ECM)2 to 3 sessions4 weeks

Even for the same product, the number of sessions is adjusted depending on whether it is applied to the entire face or a smaller area like the eyes or neck, and on the degree of skin damage. In some cases, two or more boosters are combined to address specific skin concerns, so organizing your priorities (elasticity, texture, hydration, etc.) in advance can help make the plan more precise.

Is the Treatment Ineffective If I Don’t Complete the Full Course?

It is not that there will be no effect at all, but the results may not reach the desired level. Collagen regeneration is cumulative, building up with each session. If you stop midway, the changes will only be as much as what has been produced up to that point.

Many people consider stopping after the first 1 to 2 sessions because the changes are not yet noticeable. However, collagen synthesis progresses gradually over several weeks after the procedure, so it is worth waiting a bit longer. Conversely, if you need to reduce the number of sessions due to schedule or budget, there are alternatives to improve efficiency by adjusting intervals and treatment areas. Rather than stopping arbitrarily, we recommend consulting with a dermatologist to readjust the plan.
