PICOPLUS emits laser pulses as short as 450 picoseconds. The shorter the irradiation time, the more the energy is concentrated on the pigment particles without spreading as heat, allowing pigment to be finely fragmented while reducing thermal damage to surrounding tissue. The fragmented pigment is processed by immune cells and eliminated from the body. Each wavelength is absorbed by different colors: 1064 nm targets deep pigment, 532 nm targets brown pigment in the epidermis, and the 595 nm and 660 nm handpieces are used for colors that were difficult to treat with existing wavelengths.
The most common reactions after PICOPLUS treatment are temporary redness and tingling, and fine scabs may form in areas treated with higher energy. After pigment laser treatment, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation may occur, so sun protection is important.
Common Symptoms
Redness, swelling, tingling, heat sensation, fine pinpoint scabs, temporary dryness
Rare Symptoms
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), hypopigmentation, blisters, pinpoint bleeding, infection, recurrence of herpes simplex, scar formation, temporary color change of tattoo pigment
