Is ResurFX™ the same as Fraxel?

What is commonly called "Fraxel" originated from a specific product name, but is now used as a term referring to the entire fractional method that divides the skin into microscopic points for treatment. ResurFX™ also belongs to the fractional method, and among them, it is a non-ablative type that does not ablate the epidermis.

How is it different from CO2 lasers like UltraPulse® Encore™?

CO2 lasers use an ablative method that vaporizes and removes tissue, so the effect is pronounced, but the recovery period is long and scabs form. ResurFX™ is a non-ablative method that creates thermal columns only in the dermis while preserving the epidermis, so recovery is relatively quick. The choice depends on the depth and type of scar, as well as your lifestyle.

Unlike ablative laser treatments, thick scabs do not form; instead, a very fine, grid-like layer of dead skin may appear and typically sheds within a few days.

How many sessions are needed to improve scars?

We generally recommend 3 to 5 sessions at 3- to 4-week intervals. The number of sessions required may vary depending on the depth, type, and age of the scar.

Is it also effective for stretch marks?

It is also used for improving stretch marks. Early stretch marks that still have a reddish tone tend to respond better than older, white, hardened stretch marks.

Can I receive treatment in the summer?

The procedure can be performed regardless of the season. However, sun exposure after treatment may cause hyperpigmentation. If you can thoroughly protect your skin from UV rays, the timing is not significantly restricted.

Mechanism

How ResurFX™ works

ResurFX™ divides a 1565nm laser into fine microbeams. This wavelength is well absorbed by water, creating columns of microscopic thermal damage in the dermis without ablating the epidermis. Surrounding undamaged tissue supports recovery, stimulating collagen production, which can fill in depressed scars and refine pores and skin texture. CoolScan™ uses non-sequential scanning to scatter microbeams, preventing heat buildup in one area, and adjusting the energy changes the depth of beam penetration.

Adverse Effects

Side Effects and Adverse Reactions

The most common reactions after ResurFX™ are temporary redness, swelling, and fine grid-like flaking. These typically subside within a few days.

Rare Symptoms

Aftercare

Post-Treatment Care

On the day of the procedure, please avoid excessive heat stimulation such as saunas and jjimjilbangs (Korean-style saunas).
Even if fine flakes of dead skin appear, do not forcibly peel them off, and focus on moisturizing.
Please apply sunscreen thoroughly for at least 4 weeks after the procedure.
During the recovery period, temporarily discontinue the use of irritating products such as exfoliants, retinol, and high-concentration vitamin C.
