Skin Booster JUVGEN HA Filler

Is JUVGEN a dermal filler?

JUVGEN is not a dermal filler that fills volume. Instead, it is an autologous dermal regeneration procedure that injects a very small amount of hyaluronic acid (approximately 0.001 cc per unit) alternately with CO₂ to stimulate the body's own collagen production. Unlike dermal fillers, the results are not immediate; improvement occurs gradually over time.

Why is JUVGEN different from regular dermal fillers?

JUVGEN is not a dermal filler that fills the skin with an external substance. Instead, it is an autologous dermal regeneration procedure that encourages the skin to produce collagen on its own. While regular hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers inject a gel-like substance into the dermis to physically create volume, JUVGEN works by alternately injecting medical-grade carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas and a very small amount of hyaluronic acid to trigger a collagen production response in the dermis.

This difference also affects the nature of the results. With dermal fillers, volume appears immediately after injection, proportional to the amount injected. With JUVGEN, however, the newly produced collagen gradually fills the tissue over time, leading to progressive improvement. It may help to think of it as the difference between a "filling procedure" and a "stimulating procedure."

What is the principle behind alternating injections of CO₂ and hyaluronic acid in JUVGEN?

Alternating injection is a method where CO₂ gas and hyaluronic acid are repeatedly injected into the same area in turns, simultaneously providing physical, chemical, and biological stimulation to the dermis. When CO₂ gas enters the dermis, it creates microscopic spaces while stimulating the tissue. The hyaluronic acid injected alongside provides moisture and an environment within those spaces, creating favorable conditions for collagen production.

In this process, the injected hyaluronic acid is not intended to create volume but rather serves as a medium to support collagen production. Studies on carboxytherapy (CO₂ injection) have observed collagen remodeling and an increase in elastic fibers in the dermis. JUVGEN adds hyaluronic acid to this to help create an environment where collagen can settle. However, the specific degree of improvement may vary depending on the individual's skin condition and the treated area.

Does it induce your own collagen rather than filling with external substances?

Yes, that is correct. The goal of JUVGEN is not to fill space with an external substance but to help the skin produce collagen on its own and regenerate the dermis. For this reason, it is introduced as an "autologous dermal regeneration procedure," and over time, the newly produced autologous collagen becomes the main basis for the improvement effect.

Studies in the carboxytherapy field have observed an increase in epidermal thickness and new collagen formation at the treated site. However, these results are observations under specific conditions and cannot be assumed to occur identically in everyone; the degree of response varies among individuals.

Why is the risk of a foreign-body sensation or nodules low?

Because JUVGEN does not inject large amounts of gel that remain in the dermis to maintain volume, the burden related to a foreign-body sensation or nodules (lumps) is relatively low. Many patients who have worried about filler lumps during consultations ask about JUVGEN. Nodules or lumps with regular fillers usually appear when the injected gel clumps together or forms a palpable mass in one area. Since JUVGEN injects extremely small amounts of hyaluronic acid into multiple spots and is not intended to add volume, this pattern is less likely.

However, "lower risk" does not mean "no risk." All injection procedures may involve reactions such as swelling, bruising, or irritation, which vary by individual. Therefore, it is important to thoroughly assess your skin condition and medical history before the procedure.

Which wrinkles is it particularly effective for?

JUVGEN is known to be highly useful for areas that have become sunken or thin due to collagen loss—that is, wrinkles and depressions that require dermal regeneration. It is often applied to thin areas where filling with dermal filler may be burdensome, such as around the eyes, between the brows, or on the forehead, as well as deep nasolabial folds, marionette lines caused by collagen loss, and depressed scars.

Conversely, for expression wrinkles caused by muscle movement itself or cases where immediate large-volume correction is needed, a different approach may be more suitable. The appropriate method for a given wrinkle depends on its cause and depth, so a consultation with a specialist is recommended for an accurate assessment.
