Skin Booster REJURAN® JUVELOOK

What is the difference between Rejuran (PN) and a collagen booster?

Rejuran (PN) focuses on skin regeneration, while a collagen booster focuses on collagen production and improving elasticity.

How Are PN and PDRN Different?

PN and PDRN are both ingredients extracted from salmon testis DNA, but they differ in fragment size and primary purpose of use. PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is an ingredient made by cutting DNA into small fragments; it is often used for wound healing, tissue repair, and reducing inflammation. PN (polynucleotide) undergoes less fractionation, resulting in a larger, longer chain form, and is primarily used in cosmetic procedures for improving wrinkles and elasticity.

Both ingredients are known to help skin regeneration and aid collagen production and growth factor secretion. However, PN has a larger molecular weight and water-attracting properties, which may also help with skin hydration and elasticity improvement.

How Do You Distinguish the Regenerative Purpose of REJURAN® from the Collagen-Stimulating Purpose of a Collagen Booster?

The two purposes can be distinguished by whether they restore damaged skin or stimulate the production of new collagen. Rejuran (PN/PDRN) focuses on stimulating cellular regeneration signals to restore the skin environment, whereas particle-type collagen boosters (such as PLLA or PDLLA) focus on stimulating the dermis to induce the production of new collagen.

In other words, the regeneration type tends to be relatively strong at improving skin condition and recovery power, while the collagen production type tends to be strong at improving elasticity and volume. Additionally, products like Re2O®, which directly supplement the collagen structure (ECM) that supports the skin, can be seen as another approach.

In practice, regeneration and elasticity are often needed together, so it is helpful to first decide which effect is the main goal, and then choose a procedure that matches that goal.

Is It Better to Receive REJURAN® and a Collagen Booster Together?

When skin concerns are complex, the regeneration type and collagen production type may be used together. By first improving the skin regeneration environment and then inducing collagen production to complement elasticity, the combination of different actions is expected to produce a synergistic effect.

However, receiving multiple procedures at the same time is not always better. Considering the skin's recovery status, treatment intervals, and the possibility of swelling or nodule reactions, it may often be more appropriate to proceed sequentially.

Do REJURAN® and Collagen Boosters Have Different Onset Times for Results?

Yes, because their mechanisms of action differ, there are also differences in when you perceive the effects.

Rejuran (PN/PDRN) supports the skin regeneration process, which progresses gradually, and after several sessions, changes in skin texture and elasticity tend to appear gradually.

With particle-type collagen boosters, significant changes are not obvious initially. As the particles break down and collagen is produced over several weeks to months, changes in elasticity and plumpness gradually become apparent.

The onset and duration of effects may vary depending on the ingredient, dosage, and individual skin condition and regenerative ability, so it is advisable to observe the progress over a sufficient period.

Can It Also Help with Wound Healing?

The Rejuran series, especially PDRN, has been studied as an ingredient that helps wound recovery based on its role in tissue regeneration and inflammation control. In practice, PDRN has been used in various fields not only for cosmetic procedures but also for the purpose of repairing damaged tissue.

However, the regenerative effect for cosmetic skin procedures and actual wound treatment differ in purpose, dosage, and application methods. Whether it can help with post-procedure recovery or be used for specific skin damage should be determined by comprehensively considering the type and condition of the wound.

If you plan to use PDRN or PN for wound recovery, it is advisable to consult thoroughly with a dermatologist before deciding on a treatment method.
