Skin Booster REJURAN® BELOTERO® Revive

Which booster is suitable for thin and sensitive skin?

For thin and sensitive skin, it is safe to start gradually with regeneration and hydration boosters that are less irritating and carry a lower risk of nodules. Representative regeneration boosters include REJURAN® (PN), and hydration boosters include SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® and BELOTERO® Revive (HA).

Is PN-based (REJURAN®) safe for sensitive skin?

For sensitive and thin skin, the PN (polynucleotide) series is generally well-tolerated. The main ingredient of REJURAN®, polynucleotide, is a DNA fragment purified from salmon, and is known to have high biocompatibility due to its homology with human DNA. It is not a dermal filler that adds volume, but rather stimulates fibroblasts to aid the skin's own regeneration and collagen synthesis, making it suitable for improving texture and restoring the barrier in sensitive skin.

However, "safe" does not mean "no reaction." Immediately after injection, mild swelling, redness, or tingling may occur, and these usually subside within a few days. For more sensitive skin, starting with a conservative concentration and injection volume and monitoring the reaction can help reduce individual variation.

Which booster causes the least irritation?

Boosters that cause less irritation are generally the hyaluronic acid (HA) series focused on hydration and the PN series focused on regeneration. SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is a booster that distributes small amounts of HA shallowly into the dermis using a microdroplet technique, aiming to increase skin hydration and smoothness. BELOTERO® Revive is a product that adds glycerol to HA to enhance moisture retention. Both products do not create significant volume, so they tend to feel less foreign in thin skin.

Below is a table summarizing the characteristics of each series from the perspective of thin and sensitive skin. This is not a ranking of specific products, but a reference for understanding their different properties.

CategoryRepresentative BoosterPrimary actionCharacteristics in thin and sensitive skin
Regenerative (PN)REJURAN®Regeneration and anti-inflammatory actionHigh biocompatibility; a reasonable, low-risk choice for improving texture and barrier
Hydration (HA)SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®, BELOTERO® ReviveImprovement of dryness and glossLow foreign body sensation, immediate hydration
Regeneration (collagen induction)JUVELOOK, Re2O®Induction of collagen productionLong-lasting effect, but response varies by individual

Which booster has a low risk of nodules for thin skin?

HA-based boosters focused on immediate hydration are generally considered to have a relatively lower risk of nodules. Hydration boosters like SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® and BELOTERO® Revive, which distribute small amounts evenly in shallow layers, have less chance of material clumping locally. In contrast, regeneration boosters that induce collagen production (such as JUVELOOK and other PDLLA series) are more often mentioned as having a relatively higher potential for nodules if particles are not evenly dispersed.

Of course, the risk of nodules depends more on injection depth, amount, dispersion technique, and individual response than on the product itself. For thinner skin, it is important to design a procedure that injects small amounts evenly into the appropriate layer, so it is helpful to discuss product choice and treatment plan with a specialist.

Are there treatments thin, sensitive skin should avoid?

For thin and sensitive skin, it is advisable to avoid treatments such as microneedle radiofrequency, which can cause significant irritation.

Also, using strong active ingredients such as retinol, AHA, and BHA before or after a procedure may cause redness and sensitivity reactions to overlap, so it is advisable to avoid them for a certain period. Since what may be irritating to your skin varies greatly by individual, it is recommended that you share your past reactions and allergy history during a consultation.

How should I care for my skin after a booster treatment?

After treatment, follow three basic principles: cooling, moisturizing, and minimizing irritation. Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for the first few hours. Then, use gentle cleansing and sufficient moisturization to support barrier recovery. Redness and mild swelling usually subside over time, but cold compresses may help with initial soothing.

On the day of and for a few days after treatment, avoid activities that dilate blood vessels, such as saunas, intense exercise, and alcohol, and be diligent about sun protection. Since recovery responses vary by individual for sensitive skin, if redness or swelling lasts longer than expected or pain worsens, do not judge on your own—consult the clinic.
