Dr. Jung Min Bae was invited as a Korean speaker and panelist to CyASIA, a webinar platform for Asian dermatologic surgery experts.
It was a gathering of dermatology professors from several countries, including Singapore, Taiwan, and the Philippines, to share treatment experiences and the latest knowledge. Dr. Bae focused on micro-punch grafting used in vitiligo surgery and introduced the clinical experience he has accumulated in practice.
He covered step by step, from the process of selecting surgical candidates to harvesting and grafting skin tissue, adjusting techniques according to lesion location, and post-operative care. He also discussed what to consider first when applying surgery to challenging areas and how to decide when combining laser treatment.
Though we met through a screen, the discussion was far from light. Even for the same procedure, differences in patients' skin color and clinical environments across countries can lead to differing opinions. Finding common ground in those differences proved just as essential as the work done in the operating room.
