Dr. Jung Min Bae’s Lecture at the Vitiligo & Pigment Society
Director Jung Min Bae demonstrated the entire process of micro-punch grafting with a video and presented a new morphological classification of hand vitiligo at the Korean Society for Vitiligo and Pigment Disorders. He shared Heal House's surgical experience, from determining the surgical site to the grafting sequence and post-procedure care.
Video Demonstration of Micro-Punch Grafting and a New Morphological Classification of Hand Vitiligo
Last weekend, Director Jung Min Bae was a speaker at the Korean Society for Vitiligo and Pigment Disorders held at the Samjung Hotel in Seoul. The presentation covered two topics: vitiligo surgery and research on hand vitiligo. First, he introduced the entire process of micro-punch grafting through a video. He went through each step, from how to determine the surgical site based on the patient's condition, to the sequence of harvesting and grafting skin tissue, and post-surgical care.
Next, we presented a morphological classification that subdivides the shape and distribution of vitiligo on the hands. The hands and feet are areas with a lot of movement and are located at the extremities, so treatment response may be limited. The proposal was that even on the same hand, the approach should differ depending on the shape of the lesion, and we aimed to establish criteria for this. Based on cases accumulated in clinical practice, we also shared with fellow medical staff how treatment approaches differ by type.
The more difficult the area, the harder it is to rely on just one method. The process of proposing a classification and having it validated by peers is itself a way to expand the available options.
