Director Jung Min Bae Lectures at the Daekyung Dermatology Conference

by Heal House Gangnam Branch

Director Jung Min Bae gave a lecture on the differential diagnosis of hypopigmented disorders at the 20th Daekyung Dermatology Treatment Conference. It was a session where he shared with fellow dermatologists the criteria for distinguishing progressive macular hypomelanosis and lichen striatus, which are easily confused with vitiligo, and how to read the lesions.

At the 20th Daekyung Dermatology Treatment Conference, he highlighted key points for differentiating various pigmentary disorders where skin color is lost.

Not every white spot on the skin is vitiligo. Even if they look similar, the cause, course, and required treatment differ depending on the condition. In this confusing context, Director Jung Min Bae served as a speaker at the 20th Daekyung Dermatology Treatment Conference and addressed how to distinguish various hypopigmentation disorders such as progressive macular hypomelanosis and lichen striatus, which can be easily mistaken for vitiligo.

A significant portion of this lecture was devoted to how to read the lesions: the color and borders, the location and arrangement of the lesions, and how they change over time. He went over differences that are not easily distinguishable with the naked eye, using clinical cases, and discussed with fellow dermatologists how the treatment direction differs depending on the diagnosis.

The sooner the diagnosis is made, the sooner treatment can begin. As such meetings continue, the time it takes for a person with white spots who visits the clinic to learn the name of what is on their skin will become shorter.
