Statistical analysis of autoimmune comorbidities in vitiligo patients conducted; results of collaborative study with Professor Ji Hye Lee's team at St. Vincent's Hospital published in JID
Vitiligo, in addition to pigment changes on the skin surface, has the characteristics of an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system affects melanocytes, so an objective perspective that considers the overall health status of the body together is important.
Through a recent collaborative study conducted by Director Jung Min Bae and Professor Ji Hye Lee's team at St. Vincent's Hospital, it was objectively confirmed via meta-analysis that vitiligo patients have a higher likelihood of having other autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata, thyroid disease, and rheumatism. The study results were published in JID (Journal of Investigative Dermatology), a journal in the field of dermatology, and shared with fellow physicians.
The research process, which comprehensively considers not only the visible skin lesions but also underlying internal diseases, serves as an important foundation for improving the safety of actual clinical practice.
This study is meaningful in showing that vitiligo should be viewed not only through changes appearing on the skin but also by considering the patient's overall health status. Heal House will also carefully reflect these research results in clinical practice and will examine the health of each patient more broadly.
