Seminar on refractory pigmentation using the Helios 785: sharing laser application methods based on skin condition and pigment characteristics
Pigment conditions that require long-term management, such as melasma, do not resolve simply by applying stronger energy. Only by considering the depth of the pigment, the individual's skin sensitivity, and how the skin responds to treatment can one get closer to naturally clear skin. Recently, Director Hanmi Jung participated as a speaker at the LASEROPTEK Co., Ltd. live seminar and shared the process of pigment treatment using the Helios 785 with fellow dermatologists.
We demonstrated how to choose between picosecond and nanosecond lasers — two wavelengths with different characteristics — based on the patient’s skin condition. As Director Jung explained why each decision was made at every step, adjusting the wavelength and energy according to the type and depth of pigmentation and the skin’s response, the attending physicians showed strong agreement. We also discussed what to consider first when dealing with stubborn pigmentation.
Even with the same equipment, results can differ. This is because the person observing the skin and deciding how much energy to apply makes a difference. What Director Jung conveyed was not about the device's performance, but the criteria to examine in clinical practice to achieve results while minimizing irritation.
There are always aspects of a procedure that cannot be conveyed through a lecture alone. The power of a live seminar lies in being able to observe from the side and ask questions on the spot.
