Dr. Jung Min Bae Lectures at Insurance Symposium

by Heal House Gangnam Branch

At the Korean Association of Dermatologists Insurance Symposium, Dr. Jung Min Bae of Heal House gave a lecture on the differential diagnosis of hypopigmented conditions that can be mistaken for vitiligo. He shared diagnostic experience in distinguishing conditions such as pityriasis alba and post-inflammatory hypopigmentation to guide treatment direction.

Shared diagnostic experience in differentiating hypopigmented conditions easily mistaken for vitiligo. Emphasized the importance of diagnosis in alleviating anxiety and setting the correct treatment direction.

When white patches appear on the skin, many people first worry about vitiligo. To help reduce this confusion and clarify the criteria for differentiation, Dr. Jung Min Bae participated as a speaker at the Insurance Symposium hosted by the Korean Association of Dermatologists. The lecture topic was the differential diagnosis of various hypopigmented conditions that resemble vitiligo.

In actual clinical practice, many patients visit with concerns about vitiligo, but after examination, they are diagnosed with other conditions such as pityriasis alba, post-inflammatory hypopigmentation, or tinea versicolor. Although they may look similar on the surface, the causes, progression, and required treatments differ, so accurately distinguishing them at an early stage is very important.

In this lecture, the subtle differences that need to be observed in clinical practice—such as the shape and distribution of lesions, the site of occurrence, and the progression pattern—were introduced along with clinical experience. It was also an opportunity to discuss in detail with fellow dermatologists which aspects should be checked first to understand the patient's condition.

An accurate diagnosis is not simply a process of identifying the name of a disease. We believe it is the starting point of treatment that alleviates unnecessary anxiety and sets the direction so that the timing for necessary treatment is not missed.

Heal House shares its experience so that more dermatologists can accurately distinguish hypopigmentation disorders, going beyond each patient encountered in the clinic. We will continue to engage in meticulous diagnosis and ongoing academic exchange, and provide the right standards so that those concerned about skin changes can receive treatment comfortably.
