Lifting Ultherapy PRIME®

How is Ultherapy PRIME different from the existing Ultherapy PRIME®?

Ultherapy PRIME is a new model with improved real-time imaging and energy delivery, increasing precision and reducing the burden of pain. The mechanism of action and target layer are the same as the existing Ultherapy PRIME®, and the effects and duration are similar, so it is better understood as "a more precise, faster, and more comfortable Ultherapy PRIME®" rather than "a stronger Ultherapy PRIME®".

Why does PRIME cause less pain?

This is because the energy delivery method of Ultherapy PRIME has been improved, and it is evaluated that the burden of pain is reduced under treatment conditions similar to the existing first-generation Ultherapy PRIME®. The pain of the existing Ultherapy PRIME® originates from the dull and vibrating stimulation when focused ultrasound creates coagulation points in the deep layer. The PRIME's design has been refined to deliver energy more gently. In addition, the faster treatment speed shortens the total time exposed to pain, which also reduces the perceived burden.

In addition, the real-time imaging is clearer, making it easier to place energy away from areas where pain is greater, such as over bone or along nerve pathways. Of course, pain is not completely eliminated and varies by area and individual sensitivity, so it is a good idea to discuss your anesthesia plan with your doctor before the procedure.

Is targeting more precise than with the original Ultherapy PRIME®?

Yes, the key improvement of the PRIME is the enhanced quality of real-time ultrasound imaging (visualization). The Ultherapy PRIME® series is originally characterized by delivering energy while viewing the skin cross-section in real time. With the PRIME, the screen is larger and image clarity is improved, allowing the boundary between the SMAS layer and the fat layer to be seen more clearly. When aiming is more accurate, even with the same energy, it reaches the target layer precisely, increasing efficiency and reducing unnecessary stimulation of other areas.

Improved precision is meaningful not only for effectiveness but also for safety, making it easier to design procedures that avoid areas where nerves and blood vessels run.

Can PRIME be done with just numbing cream?

Thanks to the reduced pain burden, more people are receiving the procedure with only topical anesthetic cream, but whether this is possible depends on the individual's pain sensitivity and the treatment area. Generally, the anesthetic cream is applied about 30 minutes before the procedure, and most report it to be tolerable. However, areas close to bone, such as the jawline or forehead, may feel relatively more stimulation.

If you are particularly sensitive to pain or have a large treatment area, you may choose additional options such as oral pain relievers or sleep (sedation) anesthesia. The appropriate method varies depending on your pain history and condition, so if the treatment area is large, it is safe to decide on the anesthesia option in advance.

Are there differences in results or duration?

Since the mechanism of action and target layers are the same, the direction of effect and duration are similar to those of the original Ultherapy PRIME®. The difference with PRIME® lies in achieving the same effect more precisely and comfortably. Both devices use focused ultrasound to create coagulation points in the SMAS layer and dermis, inducing collagen regeneration. The effects gradually appear over 2 to 3 months and are generally known to last for 1 year or more.

However, because the image clarity is improved, if energy is delivered accurately to the target layer, efficiency may improve even with the same number of shots. In other words, it is more accurate to understand PRIME® as "a more precise, faster, and more comfortable Ultherapy PRIME®" rather than "a stronger Ultherapy PRIME®."

Is it better for people who had the original Ultherapy PRIME® to switch to PRIME?

Yes, if you were satisfied with the original Ultherapy PRIME®, you can naturally continue with PRIME® as it is an improved version of the same principle. Especially if you found the pain burdensome during previous treatments or felt the procedure time was long, you can expect a noticeable improvement with PRIME®. Conversely, since the principle of effect is the same, if you had good results with the original Ultherapy PRIME®, you can continue with PRIME® according to the maintenance interval (usually about once a year).

The treatment interval and shot count design vary depending on previous treatment history, skin thickness, and degree of sagging progression. Heal House has Ultherapy PRIME, and through consultation we provide customized designs that reflect the history of those who have experienced existing Ultherapy.
