Lifting Thermage® FLX Ultherapy PRIME®

How often should you get Thermage® FLX?

Thermage® FLX generally has a baseline interval of about one year, and the interval is adjusted according to age and degree of sagging.

How Often Should You Get Thermage® FLX — Every Few Months or Once a Year?

Thermage® FLX is generally known to be received on a cycle of about one year as a baseline. The effect of collagen produced by the treatment typically lasts for about one to one and a half years, then gradually decreases with natural aging, so the concept is to stimulate collagen production again at the point when that decrease begins.

However, this is an average standard, and depending on skin condition, the interval may be shortened to between 6 months and 1 year or extended to more than 1 year. What matters is not the number on the calendar but 'the point in time when your skin's improved condition begins to fade,' so it is advisable to find your own cycle through observation of progress.

Does the Thermage® FLX Treatment Interval Depend on Age or Degree of Sagging?

Yes, it is generally the case that the older you are and the more pronounced the sagging, the shorter the interval, and the younger you are and the more preventive the purpose, the longer the interval. This is because the rate of collagen loss varies with age, and the extent of improvement needed also differs.

ConditionTypical interval trendTreatment purpose
20s-30s, preventive purpose1 year to 1.5 yearsMaintain elasticity and prevent aging
40s, early saggingAbout 1 yearImprove jawline and fine wrinkles
50s and older, pronounced sagging6 months to 1 yearReinforce maintenance after improvement

Even at the same age, collagen condition varies depending on skin thickness, subcutaneous fat, and history of UV exposure, so it is advisable to use the table above as a reference. By checking how long the effect lasts after the first treatment, you can more accurately determine the interval that suits you.

Can Getting Thermage® FLX Too Often Cause Problems?

Receiving it more frequently than necessary is not recommended, and it is advisable to allow at least the period during which collagen remodeling occurs. Since the effects of Thermage® FLX are gradually achieved over several months after the procedure, repeating the treatment before that process is complete makes it difficult to judge the effect and offers little benefit relative to cost.

In general, it is advisable to decide carefully about repeating at short intervals within 6 months. It is reasonable to evaluate the condition after the effects of the previous treatment have reached their peak (usually 4 to 6 months) and then decide whether to add more if there are insufficient areas. It is safe to decide whether and when to repeat after confirming the response to the previous treatment.

When Should You Consider a Thermage® FLX Maintenance Treatment?

Maintenance treatment is more effective when received not after the effect has completely disappeared, but at the point when the improved condition begins to fade (generally around 1 year after the procedure). This is because stimulating while some collagen remains makes it easier to maintain the improvement, whereas after it has fully reverted, you have to build it up from the beginning again.

It is effective to check the condition at the 6-month mark, when the effect is at its peak, and then schedule the next treatment while monitoring progress. Combining basic care such as sun protection and moisturizing also helps extend the maintenance period.

Can You Alternate Thermage® FLX With Other Procedures?

Yes, you can receive it alternately or concurrently with procedures that have different layers of action and mechanisms, and you can even expect complementary effects. Since Thermage® FLX is an RF procedure that targets dermal collagen, combining it with HIFU Lifting (Ultherapy PRIME®), which lifts the deeper SMAS layer, allows you to manage different depths together.

For example, an annual plan is possible with Thermage® FLX once a year as a base, and placing Ultherapy PRIME® or RF Lifting (Alltite), or a Skin Booster such as REJURAN® for skin texture and elasticity, at intermediate points. However, the intervals and order between procedures need to be adjusted according to skin condition and recovery, so it is recommended to design the overall plan in consultation with a dermatologist.
